![]() For your convenience, we post our school menus on this Web site monthly, so check back here to find out the latest menus and nutritious meals we have planned for our students. If you have any questions about our school lunch program, feel free to contact our Food and Nutrition department. ![]() Dear Parents: We have a passion for supporting academic excellence through the nutritional quality of the food we serve. Our department takes seriously its privilege and responsibility to provide children with nutritious foods, as well as provide nutrition literacy so students have every opportunity to develop to the fullest extent of their capabilities. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals at minimum cost. The Child Nutrition Department of Maricopa Unified Schools is a self-supporting arm of the district. We receive no educational tax dollars to operate our program. It is our responsibility to generate revenue to pay for food, supplies, labor, and equipment needed for the various food programs. Every school in the district participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. We plan meals to be nutritious and kid friendly. We bake our chicken nuggets and fries; we offer a variety of fruits and vegetables daily, along with low-fat milk and dairy products. Every student has an individual account and student ID with which to purchase meals. Breakfast is $.50 for grades K-12 for full pay students; $.10 for grades K-12 for reduced price students and free to all students qualify for free meals. Lunch is $1.50 for K-5 and $2.00 for 6-12; $.40 for reduced price meals – students K-12 and free to qualifying students. Accounts are set up with the food service cashier at your school. You can put money on the account using cash, personal check, or money order. You also may set up an account for your child online at mynutrikids.com using a Visa or MasterCard. You can also view your child’s purchases at school to help with budgeting for meals. Please be aware: students may only charge three meals. If your child forgets his or her lunch money after three charges, we will supply an alternate meal of sandwich on whole wheat, fruit, and milk. Please make sure your child has money on his or her account. Your child may qualify for free or reduced price meals. Applications are available at your child’s school office, school cafeteria, or through the Child Nutrition office. We’ve also attached them for you, as well as instructions for completing the application, in the sidebar at the left of this page. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Please be aware: it may take up to 10 days for your lunch application to be approved and money will have to be on your child’s account until you receive notification of approval of the application. We welcome your comments and suggestions and hope to have you join your child for a meal. Best Regards, |
